How do I know if or when my instrument needs a service....​​
Are you having trouble with resistance and having to use more air?
Are your pads or neck cork worn?
Is your instrument visibly dirty or dusty?
Have you got an exam in the next 2 months?
Before a decision is made on what kind of work is best for your instrument give me a call and I will advise on what service is needed.

Visits to the workshop are by pre-arranged appointments only. Please ring ahead before setting off.
Opening times are a guide & remain flexible to accommodate out of office needs.

Small Repairs
These types of repairs can be minimal along with a price reflects that:

Replacing cork only
Replacing felt only
Minor Adjustments
A single pad replacement
Basic Service
This is to put the instrument in to working order, which includes:
​
Ensuring that all pads are sealing properly
Minor replacing of worn/broken corks/felts
Ensuring that the adjustment is correct between linked keys
Checking and adjusting, if necessary, the fitting of the joints
Oiling the keywork and mechanisms where appropriate.
Full Service
Includes the work of a basic service plus:
​
The instrument is totally stripped down and cleaned
Replacement of worn/broken corks/felts
Key-work is refitted
The old oil is fully removed and the keys are re-oiled and adjusted on corked instruments
Joint corks are fitted and replaced as necessary
The instrument is fully balanced and adjusted where necessary.
Overhaul/Re-Build
This is over and above the work of a ‘full service’ and will include:

Dissembling of the instrument
Replacing pads as standard and including corks/felts
The instrument is then thoroughly play tested
​
Leaving the instrument with a brand new feeling.
